B21FT Idle ?? Is this normal? 200

'81 B21FT idle is a bit erratic. The car starts with a touch of the key, hot or cold (except at the Westside Volvo meet, where it was reluctant to start. The GF said that she, the car, just didn't want to leave!).

When started cold it idles smoothly for about 20-30 seconds. As soon as the car starts to warm up the idle begins to pulse about 50rpm every second or so. Two mechanics have told me not to worry about it. One says thay all do that and the other said not to worry, he could hear the IC motor working and all was fine. The pulsing idle drives me nuts. Once up to speed there is no problem. The car passed Calif Smog.

Car has new wiring harness, vacuum lines, turbo hoses, sensors, cap, rotor, plugs and wires, injectors, seals and holders, timing belt, tensioner and front seals, intake manifold gasket, water pump, engine and tranny mounts, filters, etc. ICM was cleaned and lubed and the throttle body and intake manifold were cleaned.

Thanks!
