Basic A/C recharging question S90-V90 1997

Yes on all counts -- but with R134a, if you don't get the amount of refrigerant almost exactly right, you can get the same poor performance with an overcharged system. It might need only a little bit, or maybe that's not the problem at all.

With later models, the only way to verify is to have it evacuated and recharged by weight. Overcharging is just as bad as having too low a charge --sometimes worse. With R134a, all the old R12 rules of "just topping it off" are out the window. Just a cautionary note.
