how to paint? 200

After the surprisingly numerous and mostly negative responses to my "should I Maaco" post, I've decided to investigate doing the paint job myself... I just don't know what I'll need once I get past the actual sanding and prep work. Where/how can I get a sprayer, is there a better brand of paint, do I need any special tools, garage, anything to look out for, etc... any help is appreciated, I want to get another few years at least out of this baby and the fresh paint should help keep it from rusting and make me feel better about picking up friends to go out, as the car currently has a busted door, half the rubber trim, scratches, etc.

Thanks!
