Sunroof repair 200

I have a very eary 240 sunroof that need repair. My guess is that it came out of a pre-980 car because of the shape of the winder handle. It is actually installed in a 140, but I figured the 240 folks would know more about this.
I've always been "afraid" to dig into sunroofs, but this time I have to. (I can tear an engine down to the last bolt and install a new heater fan and many other "dificult" jobs, so the issue for me is just information. I have not found a good service manual for this and am not sure where to start.
Symptom / Problem. Sunroof doesn't close all the way. The control cables? seem to be offset. The left (driver side closes completely but the pass side will not lift up into position... even with assistance manually. The handle / drive gear isn't perfect, but it doesn't seem to be the cause. it was closing well until a youngster got in the car and cranked away at it without supervision.

Questions : Does anyone have any suggestions as how to begin? Does anyone have a drawing of this or similar factory sunroof? How far apart does this have to be taken to reset the control cables? Does headliner have to come down?

Any other help along these lines would be appreciated.

Thanks

Scott
