Removed temp comp board Where should guage be? 200

I just bypassed the temperature compensation board on my '87 wagon. The needle now rests higher that the typical "just below 9'oclock" position, but is still well away from the red zone. Should I not be concerned? What have you guys experienced with removed compensation boards. I have a good radiator, new hoses and thermostat. Tstat is a Stant, should I get a cooler tstat?

What's normal here? Just want some reassurance. Thanks for all the help with the cooling issues guys, you rock.
