Getting a Handle on the Handle 200

Sometimes you can fix them. I've done it a few times. You have to take off the inner panel of the door to see what broke on the handle. Usually it is a rivet on one end of the handle which act as a pivot. The head wears off this rivet and it falls out of the assembly. You can replace the rivet with a small bolt. Another fix is to go to a pick and pull and get a used handle assembly from the back door of another 240 (less wear on the back doors). Remember there is a left and right assembly which won't fit the wrong side. Be sure to keep the two screws which hold the handle to the door. Sometimes the threads are different and your old screws won't fit. BTDT
