What year?? The mechanical speedometers have a gear that cracks and can usually be repaired; the electric speedometers have a gear that breaks a tooth off and needs to be replaced.

At 125,000 you are probably driving a later model 240 with an electrical speedometer. The gear with the broken tooth is available from Jeff Caplan for about $25 + shipping. Go to http://www.odometergears.com/
