Specifics on non-working oil pressure gauge/sender. . .Diagnosis? 200 1987

ok, so i took mcduck's advice and switched the wires on the sender. No difference. (some background. . .i bought a gauge/sender combo. wired it in. The gauge pegs when the car is running. the idiot light no longer comes on.) here's what else i found out:

there is no voltage between the sender wire and ground, and none between the sender wire and ground.

the + feed has 12 volts.

when the + feed is connected to the + terminal OR the "G" terminal, it pegs the gauge.

The ground works (the light connects to it and it works)

any ideas? I need to figure out a course of action tonight since I have a sender on order unless i cancel it my tomorrow morning. If nothing else, i'll replace this sender with the stock sender for the drive to denver.

Mike
