'85 240 trans into '72 142, Will it work? 140-160 1972

Can I bolt a 4spd OD trans from an '85 240 up to and into my b20, '72 142? The trans looks similar enough to an m41 and 1972 has the short shifter like the later transmissions. Would I just need to bolt in the 240 cross members or what modifications if any (none, right) would need o be done. The trans is way cheaper than an m41 but I haven't picked one up yet-stil trying to figure out if it'll work, thanks a lot for your help and can't wait to hear em, thanks
