1984 245Turbo $400 good deal or just a lemon? 200

Hi,
I was driving through a neighborhood a couple of days ago and I noticed a 1984 245 turbo for sale. The paint is rough, and the car doesn't idle, but otherwise it's in pretty good shape. The problem with the car is it won't idle unless the clutch is in. Even if you put it in neutral and let the clutch out it will die. As you let the clutch out the engine slows down until it stops when the clutch is out. I talked to the owner and he said that the clutch was too tight. We tried to loosen the clutch, but it didn't help. I was wondering if the car is stuck in gear. The only reason I don't think it's in gear is because the car doesn't move at all when you let the clutch out. Also it would only shift into reverse. Could the clutch be stuck or too tight? Should I bother with this car and try to fix it or should I just leave it alone? Is it worth the $400? Thanks
