HIF6 carb maintenance 140-160

I imagine this will mean a tip to the parts store for a rebuild kit, but the other day I went to start my '71 140S and it was loathe to start. I looked under the hood and noticed there was gas dripping about near the carbs. I pulled the airbox cover to see a huge puddle of gas in there. I got all that out and tried again. Wife says gas starts pouring out *both* throats as soon as the fuel pump gets the pressure up. This hasn't been an issue before, nor have there been any symptoms leading up to it. Any idea how a (I assume) needle valve and float would poop out like that?
