exhaust manifold stud, cont.! 200 1981

More advice needed!! I tried ez-out, no luck on getting broken portion of stud out. The stud itself seems to be fairly soft metal, as I have drilled completely through the end of the stud. I spoke with my friend who is the dealer mechanic for Porsche and he thought I should get a 8mm x 1.25 tap and drill the remaining stud material as close to the existing threads as I can get and then try the tap. What are fellow board members thoughts for this area? I realize this is tricky business and I really only get one try without ruining the head.

Thanks,
Jeff
