Glove box door attacking passenger, how to fix? 200 1988

Well, here's the problem. The glove box door pops open when the car goes over a relatively mild bump. Surprises non-Volvo-type passenger, whack on the knees.

The problem, brought on by age, is that the plastic part where the hinges attach to the box has sagged a bit, enough so that the lock latch piece is lower in its catch place (hole in the top of the box).

A recent post asking about glove box removal raised the question of the two screws, additional to the basic seven, that are hard to remove.

Are those additional screws used to prevent the "pop open" problem? If your 240 has these two additional screws, would you please post a response that tells where they are? Better yet - a picture, if you can do that.

Thanks a whole lot - the car is the wifemobile and she's unhappy about the problem.

Regards,

Bob
