cleaning & repairing Virgos 200 1980

Hi All,

I was given a free set of Virgo rims a few weeks ago (with the rest of the car thrown in as well), but they have a few problems. First, they are filthy. What should/shouldn't I use to clean at least fifteen years of baked on nicotine colored road grime? Second, one of the rims has a slight flat spot along the edge of the rim, approximately two to three inches long...this wheel will go flat if left in one magic position, so I should have it repaired. I've heard virgo rims are fairly soft...would it be a bad idea to "persuade" the edge of the rim slightly with a hammer and block of hardwood?

Thanks,
Rob in Niagara Falls
