engine noise and oil light on 900

a few days ago the oil,check light on my 1994 960 came on intermittently. the car has 187,000 miles came on it
it also developed a slight tapping noise that was slight.
I then changed the motor oil,and suddenly the tapping noise got worst and the oil light came on and stayed on.
it was also noticed that there was clear water cominig out of the exhaust.
Do I need a new motor or is there a less drastic fix for the problem?
