poor running when cold 200 1982

i think i found the problem.after cleaning the intake which was very dirty I say the return to tank line from the fuel pressure regulator to have a tight turn to it.I loosened the bango fitting and moved it around some.it appears to work ok now with lots of throttle response.Does not take much change in backpressure to screw the system up.
