stuck distributor rotor...how to fix? 200

Howdy all,

I have had my '87 240 for about six months and am in the process of a full tune-up. I have been stumped by the following problem- the distributor rotor will not come off the shaft. I have tugged forcefully on it, and it will not budge. I do not want to damage the distributor, but I need to get the rotor off. I not only want to replace the rotor (which needs replacing), but I also need to adjust the dwell.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Keith
