Driveline Shudder with IRS-equipped 760T 700

Guys,
I have a 90 760T with IRS...my questions is that since the rear diff. is "fixed" on an IRS-equipped 760, how can shimming the driveshaft (either up or down) fix the "shudder" problem on takeoff? IE: Since the relationship between each half of the driveshaft is not changing on takeoff, what is causing my brief "shudder"....center bearing? universal joints? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I've got a fairly annoying engine vibration at idle....oil pan is still 1/4"-3/8" from chassis X-member....could hydraulic mounts be bad without the famed "settling" on the x-member? Thanks in advance.
