If you have a B230F kind of 700 you might not want to trust the mark on the damper because sometimes the two halves slip around a deteriorated rubber isolator. For certain, regardless of which engine, you can remove the spark plug from #1 and probe the top of the piston with a wire while turning the crank with a wrench to locate TDC.
