Tranny slip 200

My 1990 240 Wagon automatic tranny just started acting a bit funny. The car has 170K miles, runs great, and never had any documented transmission problems. Recently, especially when I first drive it after sitting for a while, the transmission will not engage properly when I give it gas. It will rev up, and then drop into gear rather hard, almost as if I was depressing the clutch and popping it suddenly in a manual tranny. It only seems to happen when going from a stop (or near stop) into first gear.

Any thoughts??
