rough idle/power loss 700 1987

I have had an 87 Turbo that has about 260,000 miles on it. Recently I slowed at a stoplight and it began to chug badly and the turbo guage needle flicked rapidly. I was able to keep driving it home by keeping it in neutral when stopped and revving the engine, but when moving it had severe power loss. I have replace the hose to the turbo on another 87 but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. It will still start but with cut off unless it is given gas. Possibly related the oil dipstick had popped out a few days earlier spitting some oil out. I would appreciate any comments.
