AMM testing, not quite so simple 200

Hey all, I ran out of time for dianostics/repair and ended up having my 86 240 wagon towed to a volvo specialist. Car would turn over and catch for a split second and then stall. My AMM's (air mass meter) resistance was out of spec 3.0ohms--suposed to be 3.5-4 but my no stall situation did not improve when I disconnected the harness to the AMM, infact the problem seemed to worsen. With a new replacement being spendy and the work week was fast aproaching I decided to let a pro have at. The problem ended up being the AMM but the specialist let me in on some the nuances for the "unplug it" test of the AMM. Could be full of sh*t but it seems plausible. Depending on in what manner the AMM has failed its incorrect output / signal can cause the computer to react and store counter productive data effectively getting it "stuck." The solution is to simply disconnect the battery for a short bit to clear memory. Basically if I had disconnected my battery, unpluged the AMM harness, reconnected the battery and then tried starting, most likely my car would have started and run in the "limp" mode. It may therefore be prudent for those of you testing your AMM with the unplug it test to add the battery disconnect as part of the process. Also if you install a new AMM or perhaps other fuel injection pieces such as and O2 sensor you may want to make sure to clear the computers memory. Perhaps your car will run better as a result. Then again ?
