Hot ignition coil 140-160

I don't know about a 140 coil specifically, but earlier Volvo coils have the ballast resistor built-in, as does the Bosch "blue" coil often used as a replacement. 240 coils require an external ballast -- I don't know when the switch to that was made.

Perhaps your coil was replaced with something else? More likely it's on the verge of failure, would be my guess.
