RPM/TIMING SENSOR 200 1989

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF INSTALLING A TRANSMISSION ON A 89 240 DL WITH A B230F ENGINE .IS THERE A SPECIFIC PROCEDURE THAT ONE MUST FOLLOW IN INSTALLING A RPM SENSOR ? THE FLYWHEEL HAS NOT BEEN REMOVED .ARE THE TWO PROTRUDING PINS ON THE FLYWHEEL SET SO THAT THE RPM SENSOR READS TDC WHEN IT PASSES THE SENSOR ? i SENSE THAT ALL THAT MUST BE DONE IS BOLT IN THE SENSOR .
