Older Wagon purchase suggestions

I am looking to buy a wagon for under $4000. I want it for a basic hauler, minivan replacement, and 2nd car. Safety is also important (that is why I am looking at a Volvo :-) ). Any suggestions? I am new to this site so are the suggestions posted somewhere?
(I just bought a 1995 850 GLT and we love it!)
