Well, we have returned to Connecticut. Our trip took us to New Brunswick and PEI. We got to visit Fundy National Park, Reversing Falls, the Tidal Bore in Moncton, several beaches and provincial parks in PEI, and saw more potatoes than ever imagined.
Also, with near perfect weather until our return, we were able to enjoy almost all of the trip under cool and clear conditions. A sunset on the north coast of PEI (Gulf of St. Lawrence) was gorgeous for an hour and a half while we ate. Our views of the Bay of Fundy were mostly clear and sunny, with a couple of typical morning fogs for contrast.
We also found great food and friendly folks at each stop, and even got good information and maps at the tourist info places. Our accomodations were strictly bed-and-breakfast places, and all were first class. We got to share our 11th anniversary sitting in New London, PEI, about 750 miles from our home in New London, CT. What a great drive.
And as for the car, well, she was flawless. (No more flaws than when we started, anyway!) Whether we were bombing along Canada 1 at 80 mph or idling in traffic at the border or navigating through the dirt roads of coastal parks, everything worked and behaved properly. A great travelling companion. We covered 1900 miles in 5 days, and the oil is still golden and clean. (Never used synthetics either.)
I don't have the fuel mileage worked out yet, since I've got to do some math first (L to gal), but consumption was consistent throughout the trip.
Any case, I will have more pics soon. This one is at the most northerly part of our trip.
