what's with the washer fluid bottle.... 700

I took out my washer fluid bottle (from a 1988 760 T) because I was doing some unibody work...

I am looking at it now, with the pump out and everything, and I just don't get it...I can see there's a little nipple on the top for a hose, but I was sure that was just supposed to be a rubber hose going straight up to vent... but then, there's also the hose running from the pump, and for some reason it goes to a T-fitting, one direction leads to the nozzles in the hood, and the other, a 1 foor segment connected to nothing, just dangling...was there something that used to be connected to? what's the deal? why the T-fitting?

Thanks!

-Matt
