Wow...why did I wait so long. New window regulator works great. Good as new. 700 1990

And for $165 for the Jap knockoff vs $400 list for a volvo part.

Although upon close examination the knockoff appears to be of inferior quality, it works just as well, about the same speed if not 1/2" faster than the passenger side.

The driver's side regulator gear sector got chewed off at the upper end of the window travel. I finally had to replace it when the window had too much wind noise and physically moving the window closed then moved the sector off the worm and I couldn't drop the window!

The new regulator appears to have the same motor (outward dimensions and shape) but the arms are sectioned differently, the gear sector may be a 1/10 mm thinner, and the mounting studs are NOT rubber mounted. However, I can't hear any sounds different from the stock regulator.

One tip...there are three red plastic bushings/washers where the regulator arm pins go into the door panel and the window slots...one for each pin. Two of mine were cracked/off...they're still available from the dealer for about $.50 and if you have an older 740 it might be good to get a few of them and next time you have the door panel off (or take it off for kicks...redo the insulation or hole covers with metal duct tape!) replace the washers. The clips behind the window slider/slots come off easily.
