Check Engine Light - codes 221 and 231 HELP! 200 1991

Thanks for NOT posting pics of youe ex. I really appreciate that. Got enough problems with my 240. The CE light is no big deal until it's time to pass the annual state inspection. Then they fail you automatically if the CE light is on. Period. End of story. Disconnecting it is illegal. They do the warning light test to make sure all wanrings and especially the CE are functional. So, I am not too worried that a 13-year old car has developped some OBD codes (though I would like it to not do that), but I would like to be able to pass inspection. As of now, I have not seen the 221-231 codes after the battery off for 30 minutes. The 232 came back, but that does not light up the CE. Hopefully, the exhaust is clean enough for me to pass emissions. Will let you know. I will try to diagnose this, though. But if I have replaced as much stuff as you have, I would throw my hands up in the air as well and get out my black electric tape for the light. What do you do for inspections? Or are they not as rigorous in your state? I live in Massachusetts and we have same smog emissions as California now. Very tough. Every other year the car goes on a dyno and is measured for smog gases at highway speed. Hopefully I can get mine to pass this time. Next year she may be exempt because of age.

Cheers,
Vladimir
