B230FT Oil leaks 700

Howdy, I have an 85 745t and it leaks oil pretty bad, about a quart every 600-800 miles. What are the common leak areas for these cars? The entire lower half of the engine seems to have a film over it, as the oil leak was not addressed by the previous owner. Would you recommend "GUNKing" the engine and then trying to see where the leak is originating from? There seems to be oil on the bottom from the pan to the trans. Any help or advice you could give would be great.
