Something else that sucks to know

Do not indiscriminately douse the engine compartment of a 19-year-old Volvo with water in an attempt to clean the engine compartment. Results: rusted fuel injection fuse holder, corrosion found on the engine control unit's wiring connector, and the death of an engine wiring harness on its last legs.
Now I have a brand new fuse and fuse holder, a clean ECU and a brand-spanking new wiring harness (gulp!) Now I clean the engine compartment with baby wipes and Simple Green wipes.

Bonus thing that sucks to know:
Stacking items with pointed metallic edges (those old foldout patio loungers, two of them) on the top of a shelf, a too-close garage door and gravity leads to a cascade and dents and scratches on your trunk. My kingdom for a two-car garage!
