Heater Core Replacement 200 1994

Well look's like I will have to replace the heater core. I recall a while back seeing pictures of a dash completley dissambled to replace the heater fan motor. i was wondering if this would be the way to go. Can I change out the heater core without messing with the evaporator? Do not want to have to recharge the A/C.

Any one who has done this operation I would appreciate hearing your experiences.
