VX cam and emissions 200

The VX cam and IPD adjustable cam gear were installed right *after* the '92 245 went thru CT emissions testing 2 summers ago. The car was new to me and had 120K on it, and while HC and CO were acceptable, NOX passed with about 1% margin. Since then I've felt like been living on borrowed time with the new cam. CT's emission testing is on hiatus, and so when I moved out to Arizona last month I dreaded going thru the registration process which includes the emission test. At the very least I expected to replace the cat (now at 160K); at worst, I envisioned swapping the M cam back in to pass the test.

So yesterday was the fateful day. Last weekend I did the normal plugs-wires-cap & rotor - air filter maintenance, plus threw in a new flame trap, fuel pressure regulator (just a preventive measure there) and did an oil change. For grins, before the test I went out for a 30-mile drive in the desert (112F) to give the cat a thorough heating. Results? Passed *easily*. 50% margin on all 3 readings.

Bottom line is that the VX cam should not introduce any concerns with regard to the standard (Federally-recommended) emission test. If your car would pass with the standard cam, the VX should not create any new worries.
