Good point. I have a bad habbit of taking grounds for granted. Big mistak in dagnosing electrical problems in cars. I was reading a book on Electronics troubleshooting the other day and found a good quote that applies and to paraphrase: "Make sure you are diagnosing the circuit that actually is, not the one you think it is." An open ground can really change the circuit from what one thinks it is.
