Throttle Position Switch 900 1993

This is a great board. I need some help. I took my throttle body off for cleaning and noticed that the switch was opening at about half throttle. Is this normal? I've read the FAQ and searched the forums and my understanding is that the TPS should open almost as soon as the throttle is opened. I've been taking it off and putting it back, hoping for that click right after the throttle is cracked but it hasn't happened. Still wants to click at about half throttle. Am I doing something wrong? I can get the click at throttle opening but the TPS is about 1/4 CW skewed.
