start hesitation 700 1989

this started last week. When I start my 740 (non-turbo), the engine catches very qickly, then there is a very short rpm drop off to about 200 rpm and then it revs up to the normal 800-900 rpm. the rpm drop off lasts about 1/2 to 3/4 second. It happens when the engine is cold or hot. the car has 150,000 and has had the usual maintance. new plugs, injector o-rings, etc had no effect. There are no problems when driving the car (no drop off at a stop sign, etc). Any ideas (the fuel pumps are original)
