Headrests in a 1967 122S? 120-130 1967

Hi
I would like to add headrests to the front seats of my recently acquired 1967 122S wagon. I know that headrests appeared on these cars in '68 or '69, but I also read somewhere that some seats without headrests did have the fittings for them.
Anybody know if this is true? How could I check whether my seats have the fittings (preferably without removing the 36-year-old covers)? I've felt around a bit through the upholstery, but I'm not sure what I'm feeling for.
If I don't have the fittings, is there some kind of bracket I could bolt onto the seat frames?
Alternatively, could I transplant two entire seatback assemblies from a later 122, 123GT, or maybe a 140-series car, using the covers from my old seats (with holes cut for the headrest pins, of course)?

Thanks very much
