Headliner question: attention all ye who've BTDT 700

I'm preparing to replace my headliner on a 1989 765 Tic in the fall. I have the two position sunroof and I know that will add to the complexity. Here's my question:

Can I pull the headliner without removing the sunroof and still drive the car? I'm thinking I won't have to stress as much if I give myself one whole weekend to remove the main headliner board and redo the liner, then go back for the sunroof and reinstall the next weekend. From what I've read, it sounds like you can remove the h/l and drive the car without incident. Luckily, I have a wagon so the removal "should" be easier than a sedan.

thanks to all who can provide advice.
