WEAK 960 900

I remember reading on some site about how chafing wires to the spark plugs could be rubbing somewhere on my engine and causing my engine to lose power or not run at all...Well it takes a LOnnnnnG time to get to 60 Mph (a lot slower than my friend's 960.) Anyway, does anybody have more information on that wire chaffing. Or even better, have any other reasons why my car is running so slow? Some guys recommended checking vac lines for likes - how do i do that?
any other solutions requested.
Thanks
