HELP 1990 700GL wont stay running, suposidly fuel pump 700

OK fokes lets see if you can help me. I am not used to Volvos as I am a BMW man. So much of it is the same I SHOULD beable to handel this. my GFs got a 1990 700GL 4 door automatic. Her car will run for about 10-20min then cut off. She took it to her mechanic who said it was the fuel pump. Somthing about this sounds fishy to me. Her mechanic has screwed her a few times. Can anone tell me som things to check or if this is probable? the car has 200+k on it. She will be selling it after I get it running (if anyone is interested its gold).
