Where's the engine temp sensor for the dash gauge? 700 1989

Not a turbo though, the 92 940 my mother in law drives has a two-wire gauge sensor in exactly the same head hole. I can't figure out how to pull it without pulling the knock sensor below. The sensor's connector housing is larger than the 19mm hex body, and there is not enough room to move an open-end without disturbing that knock sensor torque setting. Easy in the bone yard, of course.
