I guess I need to read up on it then. A lot of what I have read (not experienced - mind you) is that much of the newer FWD that Volvo/Ford has to offer - may be fast - may be glorious - and much more ...but in the long haul, we will not see these models as we do our beloved 240's, 7X & 9X models.

What I mean is there are many of these RWD models with high, high mileage (much more than mine have) that run like sewing machines & still look great. And they show no sign of giving up. The owners usually get tired of the same car way before it is ready to give up the ghost - or a wreck contributes to a quick demise.

The new breed will never do that IMHO (wish they could) and along the way - the upkeep will be much higher - and God forbid that a shade tree man like me would try to work on them.

The auto industry is geared to sales - lets face it. They do not want you or I to have a car that will last 10-20 years. They would rather sell us another one in 5 - or less.
