Engine Misses Between AC Compressor Cycles 700 1992

My '92 745 (non-turbo w/Rex-Regina Ignition) tends to misfire between AC compressor cycles. This translates to brief, quick surges at highway speed. I have recently replaced plugs, wires, coil wire, distributor cap and rotor, air filter (It was time for all of these anyway). No effect. Then, I read the FAQ, which seemed to point to the knock sensor. I replaced it with a new one. No effect.

While in neutral with the AC on and engine at about 2500 rpm, the compressor cycles in and out normally. While the compressor is in its "off" cycle, the car will lightly misfire 2-3 times, clearing up again when the compressor is in its "on" cycle.

Again, the problem occurs only with the AC switched on. What the heck? I was thinking of checking for bad connections on the knock sensor connector.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
