last year i replaced condensor, compressor(new from autozone), expansion valve, accumulator and added oil and recharged with r-12. Then the highside hose leaked (from me manhandling it getting the compressor out and in) and let all the freon and some oil out. I guessed that it lost about 2 oz of oil and put that much in when i recharged again. I'm wondering if i got that amount right... the a/c works good, vent temp down to 42 in humid 80 deg florida. but there is some noise and vibration i hear from inside the car when the compressor is running. the compressor sounds fine when i pop the hood and listen there. I'm hoping it didn't loose most of it's oil in that highside hose break and i'm running it with low oil.
also, i've decided that the weak point, in terms of performance, is the condensor. at cruise with lots of airflow is when it cools well.. but for instance, if the hood has been sitting in the sun and the condenser is already really hot just from that.. the cooling is terrible.. if i hose it down.. cooling gets good. is there a high cap condensor for 240's?
