New 940 and Just a New Set Of Problems 900

I got the '94-944, black, gray leather, sunroof, memory seats. Sun roof is acting up even though the PO said the motor was replaced on Thursday. I spent all day today cleaning waxing, sweeping, steam cleaning the carpet, disassembling interior stuff to clean. What a mess. Started at 7:00AM and ended at 9:00PM. The "PO's stink" is gone. That doesn't sound very nice, but interior was fxxxing dirty. There was a lot of hidden dirt, spills, fries, crap, sticky stuff, pens, pins, popcorn, coins, ... This car did a little traveling on dirt roads. I never believed in steam cleaning an engine but this was bad! I went to the car wash and blasted the engine without malice or forethought. Well, I had a little forethought. I covered the distributor cap, the master cyl vent hole, and took it easy around the fuel injectors. The car gods were good to me, it started right up.

The $100 pre-purchase inspection found the coolant leak by performing their normal pressure test to about .9 bars and ended up blowing out the side of the radiator. A long story but I split the $450 cost with the PO. Don't ask.

I can't drive it yet, I mean the wife can't drive it yet. It needs a few critical things. The accessory belts are cracked through to the reinforcing, there is front seal leak which also means the timing belt has to get replaced ($550). The front flex brake hoses are cracked and the inde urged this to be the first repair ($270).

On down the pre-purch insp. list: needs an ATF flush ($85), brake fluid flush ($45), clear and aim washers ($10) (ha), power antenna mast ($68), motor mounts, and a new pinion seal. I'll need help on the pinion seal, it's new territory for me. An emissions test was done and found to be normal, CO-0.69, HC-113, CO2-13.6.

I guess this will cost another $500 in parts to fix the issues and do all the other preventative maintenance items. I believe it would have to be done to any Volvo I would buy, unless I bought one from myself. Please excuse this, I've been in contact with too many soaps and solvents today.

I'll say this, it's looking good right now. Black is worthless as an automotive finish being hot in the summer and showing dirt, but is sure does look good. One thing I noticed about this car, there is absolutely no door trim puckering.
