Radio problems, static / no green lcd display. ANY HELP???

My radio used to work, now it just cackles and the green LCD display can't be seen. I replaced the battery/alternator about a year ago. Ever since then the radio seems to have gone kerplunk. Any help would be appreciated. "89 240 DL wagon".

P.S. If any of you are tired of your Service light coming on, some Volvos...90's???...have a manual reset switch underneath the driver's side behind the dash panel (odometer, etc.) If you take off the carpet you can get to this real easy. Thanks for any help, Steven
