What is the normal Idle speed? 200

HI,
I have a 1985 245ti that runs really well now. Only one thing is a little off. When I start the car it geos to about 500 RPM and stays there. After I have driven some the car Idles at 1200-1300 RPM. When the car starts usually the car revs itself to 1200 then it goes back down to about 900 RPM. Now the car doesn't do that and it stays at 500 RPM. Is there something wrong with my car?
