Is my power steering rack failing? 200 1986

Hello all,
Noticed a large amount of PS fluid on the ground today. Leaking from the end of the RHS boot. Drove home and had to fill the resevior, it was nearly empty. Pump was starting to make noise by this time. Leak seems to be rapid. Do I have to replace the rack as the only option?
Thanks for any advice.
