245 rear seat removal 200

Hello All,

This is my first post on these forums, having discovered the brickboard just recently. I have an '87 245 DL, which has rust in the rear wheel wells, around the rear seat belt mounting bolts.

I was planning on simply pulling out the seats in the back and welding in some new sheet metal. My question is, is there some secret to removing the rear seat backrest? As near as I can tell, the mounting brackets are welded to the body, and the groove that the hinge stud slides into is flanged so that it can't be taken out. Am I missing something?

thanks for any information.

regards,
Rowan
