Power Mirror Conversion - 740

Anyone ever added power mirrors to their older 740? I have an 87 745T that has those round white plugs in the door, along with a single blue/green wire for a heating element(?!). It is IMPOSSIBLE to find any mirrors with that plug on the end, so I recently swapped for a pair of power mirrors from an 89 740. This one, as with all others I could find, has the black square plug on the end.

Now, the wiring diagrams are identical for both 87s and 89s. Even the wires are color coded the same. SO, I try to splice in a newer, easier to find styled end. The mirror works 9-3 o'clock, but no 12 and only a "click" in the mirror at 6. Not to mention, the switch sits 90o off from the corresponding direction of the mirror.

1.Any ideas?

2.Anyone with an older set that has the round 4-pole plug on the end they'd like to unload?
